After much deliberation, staff at the BBC Sport website have come up with their top-10 British fighters, pound-for-pound.
Ignoring weight, this subjective list takes into account fighters' recent results, their skills, resilience and punching power.
World beater: Who is the best boxer on the planet?
The list will be updated periodically and should be treated as a talking point. Let the debate begin!
POUND-FOR-POUND TOP 10

1. David Haye
- Heavyweight
London (22-1, 21KOs)
Haye finally nailed down a fight with IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in Germany on 20 June. It will be a big ask for the Londoner.

2. Carl Froch
- Super-middleweight
Nottingham (25-0, 20KOs)
Froch produced one of the great comebacks to beat Jermain Taylor and is surely careering towards a unification with Denmark's Mikkel Kessler.

3. Ricky Hatton
- Light-welterweight
Manchester (45-2, 32KOs)
Hatton was knocked out in two rounds by pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas and his extraordinary career may now be over.

4. Junior Witter
- Light-welterweight
Bradford (36-2-2, 21KOs)
Witter returned with a three-round win over Victor Hugo Castro in November and may now get a shot at the vacant WBC light-welterweight crown.

5. Clinton Woods
- Light-heavyweight
Sheffield (42-4-1, 24KOs)
Woods looked a spent force in losing to Antonio Tarver, but easily won a world title eliminator against Elvir Muriqi in February. Now chasing American Chad Dawson.

6. Kevin Mitchell
- Super-featherweight
Dagenham (27-0, 20KOs)
The British and Commonwealth champion is set for a title shot against WBO holder Roman Martinez - the man who beat his good friend Nicky Cook. Will need to tighten his defence.

7. John Murray
- Lightweight
Manchester (25-0, 13KOs)
Could the British champion, and not the much-hyped Amir Khan, be the man to make a splash on the world stage? Battled to victory over Lee McAllister in January.

8. Amir Khan
- Lightweight
Bolton (20-1, 15KOs)
Khan did what he had to do against Marco Antonio Barrera in Manchester and his reward is a world title shot against WBA light-welterweight champ Andres Kotelnik in June.

9. Jamie Moore
- Light-middleweight
Salford (32-3, 23KOs)
Moore gave an impressive display in stopping Ukrainian Roman Dzuman in two rounds in Sunderland to defend his European title. Moore is now targeting a world title fight.

10. Kell Brook
- Welterweight
Sheffield (19-0, 12KOs)
Originally a product of the same Sheffield gym as Naseem Hamed, Brook was due to defend his British title in May, but had to withdraw because of injury. Could go all the way.
